Ayurveda Elder Home Care Aide Training Program
Skilled Ayurveda Volunteers Needed
Skills needed: knowledge of geriatrics, fund-raising, grant-writing, experience with provincial approval of post-secondary educational trainings, experience with BC curriculum development.
To propose options for providing quality elder care, the Canada Ayurveda Research & Education (C.A.R.E.) Foundation, began designing a Home Care-Aide curriculum to provide in-home support for Ayurveda-based Elder Care specialists.
A pilot training program is now under discussion for Surrey, B.C., where families mostly prefer to keep their parents and grandparents within the home setting during the aging process.
Home-Care Aides will come into the home to provide companionship and skilled professional care to elders and seniors, to enhance safety and quality of life. Activities may include Ayurveda-based food preparation, personalized abhyanga oil treatments, gentle yoga stretching and exercise such as walking, breathing practices for stress management, recorded music for comfort and memory enhancement, generational communication to support children to accompany their grand-parents and great-grandparents, etc.
Participants will learn the theory and practice of the aging process and the traditional elder care model from ancient Ayurveda, the world's oldest holistic health care science, still widely practiced today, especially in Asia.
To bring our provincial application for approval to fruition, skilled volunteers are now needed to actualize this innovative pilot project, which could be replicated in any region of Canada.
Our goal is to train 30-50 graduates during the 2026-2027 academic year.
